My sock knitting experiment is looking a little worrying. The sock has been growing at speed, very satisfyingly, but it has become apparent that tinkering with the original pattern to produce thick, chunky socks is not as easy as I thought it would be. Doubling the DK wool, and increasing the needle size, then following the instructions for a small size sock ...... doesn't work!
Back to the drawing board. I will finish Giant Sock just to work where the measurements are wrong - then try again. I think that perseverance is the key; although Arty Daughter tells me that the answer is to buy socks from one of the many places that have a selection waiting for people who aren't as eccentric as I am.
